I travel all over the world and I usually use the Lonely Planet books. This time I tried the Bradt Travel Guide. This book is uselessif you are planning to travel to Algeria. The information in the book is wrong or outdated. The book lacks any actual useful information fora person traveling to Algeria. A traveler needs good maps, directions to hotels and transportation options, travel routes and business contacts, travel times with route conditions, business hours and a good index. This book has none of these things and the print is very light and hard to read in this book. Do not buy it.
It's an interesting and informative edition and I will try some more Bradt travel book to see if I like them as well. I most use Lonely Planet but am open to new guide books.
Travelling to Algeria for an English speaker is made difficult by the dearth of information and lack of up to date guidebooks. As a result I chose this one to provide additional information to help me plan and travel around the country.My big complaint about the book is the shoddy quality of the maps. Algiers is a HUGE city and to have such poor maps misrepresenting distance and locations was discouraging.Other things seem as though they were given half an effort or additional pages of information were not included. Particularly the section on Djemila. I found it lacking especially with regard to directions on how to get to the site.That being said finding any information online regarding hotels is difficult so the listings provided by the book are useful in that regard.
Not very useful at all. Lousy maps, over-generalized and not culturally aware information. Very little information on places outside of big cities. Do not recommend.
